About the Owner
Armand SELLIER, the carousel man
Some children have known me for over 13 years now, others for 6 years, and still others have just met me this year. It’s a generational turnover that has been happening since May 2012, when I took over the merry-go-round.
And even more so if we go back to the origins of the merry-go-round of La Baule, which has been an integral part of La Baule’s heritage since at least 1975.
The current merry-go-round replaced the previous one in 1989, as it was larger and equipped with glass panels to protect customers from the whims of the weather (rain and cold).
It has now been about 13 years since I have owned and operated the merry-go-round of La Baule.
Coming from a family of traveling fairground industrialists, 6 of my 8 great-grandparents were fairground workers. All of my grandparents were as well, and so are my parents to this day.
My desire to carry on this family tradition will be evident when you visit the merry-go-round and see the photos of roller coasters, carousels, and other rides from my ancestors, which I’ve displayed in the merry-go-round like a small museum.
You’ll get a glimpse of this world, my world, while your children enjoy themselves on the merry-go-round.
We sincerely hope to continue this adventure with you in La Baule for as long as I am able. I’m permanently based at Place de la Victoire, and the merry-go-round never moves. So, you can come and enjoy the ride all year round, whether it’s windy, rainy, or even snowy.
We look forward to seeing many of you all year long ! :)
